The highly-desirable Terra Linda neighborhood is neatly positioned on San Rafael’s north side, conveniently off Highway 101 near the Northgate shopping center. Recognized for its distinct collection of mid-century modern dwellings, Terra Linda continues to be a highly sought-after neighborhood for home buyers who appreciate the ultra-popular mid-century modern design, which swept through much of the northern California region back in the 1950s and 60s. In general, Terra Linda is one of those classic Marin County neighborhoods where a number of California’s most notable mid-century modern home builders have a strong presence, including Joseph Eichler, who built 225 mid-century modern homes in Terra Linda South, and an additional 625 mid-century modern homes in Terra Linda North. As an older residential neighborhood in San Rafael, Terra Linda is a great place to look for an entry-level home that could use some updating here and there, with some homes even priced under $600,000. If you're a buyer who isn’t exactly looking for a project, however, plenty of turn-key mid-century modern homes should also be available at any given time, with most listing prices for these more recently-updated properties settling somewhere between $800,000 and just over $1 million.
